We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page visits. It doesn’t use cookies and doesn’t identify you. See our Cookie Policy for details.
How and why we use it
Data protection law requires us to have a lawful reason for each use of your information:
- To answer your enquiry, arrange a test drive or value your car. This is at your request, before you enter into a contract with us, and in our legitimate interest in responding to customers.
- To sell you a car and provide aftersales support and the warranty. This is necessary to perform our contract with you.
- To check your driving licence before a test drive. This is in our legitimate interest in making sure our cars are driven safely and are properly insured.
- To keep financial and sales records. This is required by law, for example by HMRC.
- To improve our website. We only look at anonymous visit counts, in our legitimate interest in running a useful website.
- To deal with complaints or legal claims. This is in our legitimate interest in protecting our business.
We will not send you marketing emails or messages unless you have agreed to receive them, and we never sell your information.
Who we share it with
We only share your information when we need to, and only what’s necessary:
- Our service providers, who handle information for us under contract and only on our instructions: Supabase (our secure database), Vercel (website hosting), Resend (sending emails such as booking confirmations) and Google Workspace (our email).
- Finance companies. We are not a lender. If you ask us to help you apply for finance, we pass your details to a finance company, which will carry out its own checks, including credit checks, under its own privacy notice.
- Warranty providers, where needed to set up or handle a warranty claim for a car you’ve bought.
- Authorities and advisers, such as the DVLA, the police, HMRC or our professional advisers, where the law requires it or to protect our legal rights.
International transfers
Some of our service providers, such as Vercel and Resend, are based in the United States or may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, the transfer is protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the UK’s approved International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries, test drive requests and part exchange enquiries that don’t lead to a sale: up to 2 years after our last contact with you.
- Sales records, including invoices and the details of cars bought and sold: 6 years after the end of the financial year of the sale, as required for tax purposes.
- Driving licence details taken for a test drive: no longer than needed to deal with anything that happens during the drive.
After that, we securely delete it.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything that’s wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information;
- ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to us using it;
- ask us to transfer information you gave us to another organisation;
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it.
Some of these rights have exceptions. For example, we must keep sales records for tax purposes. To use any of them, contact us using the details above. We’ll respond within one month, and there’s normally no charge.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Keeping your information safe
Your information is stored securely, protected by encryption, and only our authorised staff can access it, using individual accounts. Our website is served over a secure (HTTPS) connection.
